The need for this funding continues to increase as schools face the difficult task of focusing on results, and teachers are pressured to concentrate on proven courses and programs designed to meet standards passed down by State regulators. Fortunately, we have many enthusiastic and creative teachers in our district who are anxious to bolster mandated curriculum with innovative programs in our classrooms.

Since its creation in 1985, the Educational Foundation has awarded more than $200,000 to fund programs in the district.

The Foundation is only able to continue to offer funding to West Geauga educators because of generosity of many individuals and local businesses who provide time and money to the organization. Foundation trustees work tirelessly to conduct a number of fundraising activities including the Thanksgiving Day Pancake Breakfast at the Chesterland McDonalds, an annual phonathon and an annual fundraising event.

Innovation ideas are submitted to the Foundation from teachers, staff and community members, and each request is carefully considered for funded more than 90 percent of all programs presented for consideration. Many of these programs have been adopted into the districts's curriculum.

We would like to take this opportunity to applaud those who have given generously of their time, their enthusiasm and their money to make a difference in our children's education. We look forward to continuing our strong support of the West Geauga Schools.
